The Marching Southerners from Jacksonville State University are one of the best collegiate marching bands in the country. Every year their show amazes fans across the country with their HUGE sound and precision corps style marching. It’s not every day that you get to watch a 450+ person band move like they do.
One of the pieces of their band that sometimes gets overlooked is their percussion front. They are called the “cockpit”. The school is known as the gamecocks.
These kids are some of the best in the country and while they may not get the spotlight as often as say their brass section, they will make you drop your jaw.
Recently the pit recorded a piece of their halftime show for you to see and hear them in action on their own. This is Salvation arranged by Danny Moore.
